In this special episode of On Record's Inside the VALT series, hosts Mike Anzalone and Carmen Haak speak with Eli Lipasti, Director of IT at Intelligent Video Solutions (IVS). Lipasti studied…
Eli, I'm kind of curious, one of the pillars of Vault is it's just easy to use.
So I'm kind of curious about as you're adding this new transcription tool, how does it fit into that ease of use way of thinking?
And quite frankly, that is the filter for our development team on every feature we add to the software is can we make this and can we make it in a way that's simple and easy to use? Because we find that to be our differentiator, right? Is that ease of use in my mind equals usage, right? Like the easier something is to use, the more the actual usage of that thing occurs.
But if it has, you know, a thousand features that are esoteric and impossible to find, it doesn't matter
So in the realm of our AI features, they slot right into what we're already doing.
One of the key things that Vault does that people don't quite realize right when they first get it is that we eliminate the need to do a lot of time processing.
backend resorting data, right? So in a lot of video solutions, people will record, you know, hundreds, thousands of hours of video, and they will manually sort them into labeled folders and directory structures, right? Which is good practice.
But the way that Vault works is we allow you to do tagging of all these videos, right? We give you customizable information templates that allow you to put any sort of metadata attached to videos and use that to index them, right? And so the goal is with instantaneous search on the backend, you can find stuff right away.
You don't constantly need to clean a house and resort things because it's happening upfront, right? And you can get back to it later.
These AI features really, all they do is add to that, right? Because we already make everything in searchable involved and i do really mean everything right so far you know you can search video titles you can search participants you can search what's shared with you can search all of these custom fields imagine how much better that search gets when you actually have the entire content of the video as part of the search space right that's a that's a huge huge difference because now you uh might you know you could run into a situation where you think that one of your instructors is using the wrong language repeatedly right Now you can go and search for that phrase in a text box, and it's not going to take hours, it's going to take seconds, right? You look for that little interaction that you're trying to find, and all of a sudden you're given a history, right? You see 20 different recordings that all have that specific interaction a few minutes in.
And you can actually take a look at those, and you can analyze, and you can say, is this a realistic conclusion? Is there a problem here, right, if a student reports something? It's just something that wasn't possible before, not because you couldn't watch the videos and find all those things, but because it would just take a prohibitive amount of time to do that.
It's cool to hear all these different functions that are going to be at the fingertips of an average user.
It's not like it's a special and different feature you have to unlock within Vault.
Working with our AI server platform, you're able to have all of these different tools.
