This week I’m joined by freediver and spearfisher Lorena Hrbut to chat about one of the most debated topics in the ocean world. Lorena shares her journey from being vegan to becoming a passionate…
Lorena HrbutGuestToday's guest is an incredible woman called Lorena.
And this is such an interesting conversation because we're diving into a topic that can be pretty controversial in the ocean space.
Lorena is a freediver and a spearfisher who is passionate about sustainable seafood, ocean conservation, and helping people reconnect with where their food actually comes from.
she didn't grow up spearfishing either.
In fact, she was vegan for years before her perspective completely changed through working in the marine industry and spending more time in the ocean.

And crazily enough, she actually holds the official world record for the first woman to ever spear a Red Emperor over 10 kilograms, which is absolutely
insane.
In this episode, we chat about how that journey unfolded, why sustainable fishing isn't always black and white, and the misconceptions around spearfishing and whether conservation and harvesting from the ocean can actually go hand in hand.
Whether you're a spearo, a diver, a seafood lover, or someone who's simply curious to hear a different perspective, this is an epic conversation.
So let's dive in.
Thank you so much for joining me.
I am so excited to talk to you about everything you do.
Before we get into it though, the first question I'd like to ask everyone is, what is the moment you first fell in love with the ocean?
