For those who don't remember, GoFundMe created these pages without nonprofits' consent.
And if the intended organization was not findable or had not signed up for the PayPal Giving Fund, The funds would in fact be routed to a different, albeit similar, organization.
So this is interesting, that the PayPal Giving Fund is somewhere in the money flow stack, a really integral player.
We took a look at their 990 and their annual report, and we came away with some interesting findings.
One is understanding just the sheer size and growth of how many donations the PayPal Giving Fund is processing.
And it's actually over the past year, particularly in the past year, we have information available for which is 2024. the number of donations increased over 50%.
And I think it's worth talking about the size and scope of PayPal Giving Fund within the fundraising donation processing ecosystem.
