Episode 201 – Next Lawyer Up with Ron Sykstus featuring Travis Jackson

So so you're you're a litigator, right? You do trial work.

I mean, that's kind of your your thing, right?

I do.

I do.

It's fun.

You know, and what about how do you feel about and you're on the mostly you're on the defense side, right? I

am, except for some collection work I do for some concrete companies.

Gotcha.

And then so what do you find, you know, with litigation, you know, it's feast or famine.

It's mostly feast in the sense that you've got to put a bunch of time in.

You know, I assume even as you age in your practice, that still holds true.

Oh, yeah.

I've got some great people I work with that.

make me look good when they're the, you know, especially through the past couple of years, you know, been two good, really good associates working for me, Van Buchanan and Adam Mulkey, great paralegals, you know, Ed Starnes, a great mentor and friend.

And, you know, you just, if you know Ed and never watched him try a case, he leaves no stone unturned.

And I just came in with that mentality of trying to learn that way.

And I may not be the smartest attorney that's trying the case, but I'm going to be, try to be the one that worked the hardest

in that.

Right.

Well, that's the thing with trial work.

I mean, as much as you do, there's still more to do, right? I mean, you can keep going and going and going.

Yeah.

I mean, you're with, how big is Lanier Ford now

in terms of lawyers? We've got about 40 plus attorneys.

We always will get close to about 50 and then something will happen when we can never get over the 50 mark lately.
