Alpha Tau Omega

You know what's crazy? Those fraternity houses.

So two of my sons were ATOs there.

So that's on New Row.

But those houses, I mean, they're like five-star hotels, you know? I mean, it's amazing.

This is like the lead of the story.

One warm spring night in 2011, a young man named Travis Hughes stood on the back deck of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house at Marshall University in West Virginia.

And by the way, I was an Alpha Tau Omega.

Were you really? For a brief time.

Did you do weird hand motions or whatever? I don't know.

you always heard tales of the Elephant Walk.

I mean, come on.

So anyway, this says, Travis Hughes stood on the back deck of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house at Marshall University and was struck by what seemed to him under the influence of powerful inebriants.

I hope they, I hope they go on a run

... at the, the third floor of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house when I was in college, a lot of, uh, interesting activity went on up in that room that I lived in.

A lot of Madden and FIFA.

A lot of other stuff that won't be mentioned on the podcast.

Let's talk about Sam.

He was 19 years old, grew up in Bellevue, going to WSU and pledged a fraternity Alpha Tau Omega ATO, as people call it.

What was he like going into that freshman year? How was he feeling about pledging a fraternity?

It wasn't something that we saw for him, but it happened very quickly.

that was you

as a parent doing your due diligence and investigating the fraternity.

I think back when I got involved in a sorority, I don't know that my parents necessarily scavenged the internet to find out some of the background, but even doing that, you weren't able to get a glimpse of some of the history that had happened at ATOs.

Can you take me back to, if you're comfortable with it, of November of 2019 and what we know about the timeline of what occurred?

Georgia State, you're at 15.

And at 16, my 2023 Baylor ATO, that's Alpha Tau Omega, 7-on-7 flag football team.

Thank you! I don't know about Kansas, man.

I can't put Kansas in the top 16 this week.
