My understanding of spirituality changed, and my understanding of myself completely changed.

But probably the scariest thing that I had lost during that time was my ability to trust my own mind, and that's a pretty terrifying thing to go through when you've spent your entire adult life and career being known as a professional medium.

I mean, I had two seasons of a television show called Monica the Medium on ABC Family, um, now Freeform.

I wrote a book that was an Amazon bestseller about messages from above and mediumship.

I toured the country doing readings in front of audiences of anywhere between 350 to 600 people at a time.

I had a top charting podcast in the spirituality category for a while called Wine and Spirits with Monica the Medium.

I hosted and taught workshops and online courses all around developing your own gifts.

I mean, I literally built an entire career around trusting the things that I couldn't see.

So my intuition wasn't just something that I believed in, it was essentially my identity.

It was the thing that thousands of people came to me for, asked me for, honestly begged me for.

I would have hundreds of messages a week from people that were begging for a session or begging for a reading, an opportunity to connect to spirit through me.

So the last thing I would've ever expected in my life is to then in 2023, find myself battling a psychosis and not knowing what was psychic downloads, what was spirit, what was messages from above, what was God, and what was mental illness, what was a full-blown psychotic break, and what happens when you genuinely don't know where one ends and the other begins.

And I've been trying to figure out how to tell this story for almost three years, but I think I am finally ready.
