And we figure, you know, we, we got through the summer.
we, we tackled a lot of, uh, awesome decades, but now let's go back to a newer movie and we say, what better way than to, uh, do obsession, which was, you know, the darling of this year.
I mean, and you could talk about the numbers like you always do, but it made a ton of money and it's just like, just in the zeitgeist and everyone has seen it.
It's kind of a skit.
It's one of the few movies as of late that have, uh, horror is doing so well the last few years that like every now and then you'll get a movie that escapes the horror circle and just becomes like a household movie.
I've had people, um, like at work and stuff that know that I'm a horror guy.
They'll come up to me and they're not horror people, but like, Oh, you saw obsession.
I'm like, yeah, of course I saw obsession.
Like, Oh, it's amazing.
I'm like, Oh, you liked it.
That's cool.
So it's really cool to see, uh, obviously made, I think under a million dollars right at, so really cool young filmmaker, uh, curry Barker.
And yeah, I'm excited to get into this one.
Freaky Nikki.
Hey, why don't you, why don't you get it, get into all that fun stuff, the synopsis and the numbers
guys.
So the IMDb synopsis for obsession is after breaking the mysterious one wish willow to win his crush's heart.
A hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for, but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.
It was directed and written by Curry Barker, and it stars Michael Johnson as Bear, Indy Navarrete as Nikki, and then we have Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless wrapping up the cast as Ian and Sarah.
A couple other little supporting roles, but those are our big four of the movie, especially Michael and Indy.
They are just stars in this movie and it came out in may of this year if you guys didn't know it played through the whole summer and it made about 510 million dollars worldwide on a 750 000 budget so this is one of the most successful movies uh made for under a million dollars it was acquired for 50 million dollars by universal focus features out of a festival and they saw a huge return on their investment and i think it's the highest grossing original quote-unquote original movie released of the 2020s so it's huge it was a cultural phenomenon we all saw it we all you know either loved it hated it or we couldn't stop talking about it and it was just in like the zeitgeist of the season and people still talk about it it's getting not that we care but it's getting awards buzz it hasn't gone anywhere and It's just the perfect movie to come out for, I feel like, our generation and people older and the younger generation.
Because it has the classic, like, tales of horror and the obsessed genre.
But it has, like, the meme-worthy and gif-or-jif-worthy stuff that we've seen nonstop since it came out.
So very, very smart play with this one.
Oh, yeah.
