Episode 465: Managing Expectations on the Healing Journey
Yitz EpsteinHost
And this is an extremely important topic because if we're not aware of the nature of healing and what to expect if our expectations aren't practical if they're not set accurately it can lead to disappointments frustrations resentments and patience and unfortunately oftentimes giving up on healing altogether so when it comes to healing right it's not about attaching to outcomes we talk about the journey right it's not the destination however we do want to have an idea of what the outcomes will look like in different benchmarks along the journey so that we can identify that we are in fact making progress, but also so that we can celebrate successes and truly appreciate the growth that we've had as we move along the journey towards peace, towards wholeness, towards abundance, towards happiness, and towards healing.

So to begin, the intention of going on a healing journey in the beginning, it usually starts out with a desire to get out of pain.

and we're lost, we're confused, and we're looking for answers, we're looking for clarity.

So we are inevitably, at that point, gonna be led to the doorway of self-discovery, the pathway inward, And not everyone chooses the pathway inward, but if you decide to commit to going inward and discovering yourself and healing your wounds and exploring who you are on a soul level, essentially that is going to be the pathway towards the clarity, towards the healing that we are looking for.

So in the beginning of a healing journey, it's not uncommon to feel lost, to feel confused, to feel frustrated, helpless, and even terrified at just the simple lack of clarity as to maybe why life is falling apart the way it is.

Because in many ways, we've done a lot of things to try to hold our life together.

And then for everything to fall apart, it can be very disorienting and devastating.

And this is in many ways necessary because oftentimes our ego is not going to let go unless it is faced with evidence that the way it's been operating, the patterns and the mindsets and the... belief systems excuse me and let's say the survival mechanisms that it's been holding on till now are not working and unless reality falls apart which then hopefully becomes very obvious proof that the ego needs to let go the ego will very often not let go and therefore will deny our ability to truly or make it very difficult for us to go inward and explore ourselves Now, the initial intention of the healing journey is not necessarily going to be the same intention that we have for when we finish the healing journey, right? So as we grow and as we evolve, as we reach certain breakthroughs, we are going to be a very different person than the person who started out.
