I visited Siren Sanctuary at the Mermaid Lounge with DTF Tanya for her first time at this women-and-trans-focused night with no cis men. We talk about how welcoming and judgment-free it felt, how easy…
So what was it like as somebody who's never been to an event like this? What would you describe it as to somebody who's curious about coming?
I think it's actually a really good evening because it's good for...
the women and everyone else included in that um to come to have that camaraderie and to talk and it's a judgment free it's an interesting group of when we're together versus outside because you can talk freely about things and i've got some ideas and just some of those stories that were shared right and just and it's very open and welcoming and it was a really good time
yeah so even though we didn't know a lot of the people in the pool when we got there we were able to still spark up conversation with them i got to know them now some of the people i've seen their profiles on facebook and maybe seen them around the clubs but never had a conversation with them tonight was my chance to do that so we got to share stories uh people were telling us about their experiences and their relationship and how you know what kind of sexual experiences they have together and separate and um yeah it was really fun and it was good because we all brought snacks again so i brought brownies you brought some timbits yep And there was like little nachos and dip and like a fruit platter and just, it was just really good.
And so it was chill.
There wasn't a lot of loud music.
So you were able to talk to people and- Enjoy the
pool, the hot weather, last little bit of summer.
Yes.
Even though
it got dark earlier, but it was nice to love the drink menu.
Yeah.
The drink
menu is my favorite part because, uh, I went to another club recently and I tried to order up one of the same things and they're like looking at me weird.
I'm like, nevermind.
That's a mermaid lounge thing.
So, um, but this was a fun Monday night.
I know that this is a once a month that they do this, uh, siren sanctuary.
And I went to one before this is my second one.
I have the same feeling.
It feels good to be around people.
Even if you don't know people yet, um, They're going to make you feel invited, especially because the host that's working here is very good at greeting people when they come to the pool, making sure they're part of the social dynamic.
And I just, this is as easy as it gets to come and try and
socialize.
Yeah, I know.
