What does a doula really do, and why do so many families say they couldn't imagine giving birth without one? In this personal episode, I take you behind the scenes of my work as a doula and share why…
Because when people hear the word doula, Many people politely smile, but they don't really know what it means.
Some people think we are midwives.
Others think we are birth coaches.
Some believe we replace the partner.
Others imagine we are here only if someone wants a home birth.
None of these things are really true.
A doula isn't there to replace anyone.
We are here to support everyone, the mother, the partner, the whole family.
We are another pair of calm hands, another reassuring voice, someone who believes in you, someone who stays with you, someone who only focuses on your well-being.
And today I'd like to take you behind the scenes so you can understand what it really feels like.
