Most men trying to change their body are shopping for a tactic. A cleaner diet, a better split, a smarter supplement stack, and lately a peptide protocol they found online. Ben has coached enough high…
Now, that is right, right there where I was, where I want to interject with coaching.
So as a coach, I'm looking at your genetics, and sometimes you have a predisposition to having higher amounts of neurotransmitters and higher amounts of hormones and higher amounts of CNS stimulation or autonomic nervous system stimulation, and that influences how you interact with the environment and how you interact with certain circumstances and whether you view the circumstance to be positive or negative.
So while we think the circumstance is a specific way, what I start to recognize is it's, no circumstance is a certain way.
So from the time I'm born, my nervous system and my neurotransmitters and my hormones and my state are interacting with an experience, and that forms my personality.
And so this personality that I've been gifted or developed throughout my life has served me very well in certain circumstances, and it's hurt me in other circumstances.
As you can imagine, if I was someone who was being crazy dogmatic and obsessed to being, being the best in the world, that served me in many circumstances, and it's hurt me in other ones.
What I've recognized now as a 45-year-old man with a lot more years of experience and a lot of people around me who are much smarter than me, I don't have to be the same version of myself no matter where I am.
If I wanna be an entrepreneur, I can't be the same guy I am with my children I have to learn to be dynamic in my personality.
I have to be dynamic in my response, which means what? Self-control, emotional intelligence.
I have to be aware of what my natural instinct is, and I have to be intelligent and sophisticated enough and emotionally intelligent enough to override it.
I can be anyone that I want in any circumstance, and my beliefs about how the world is and my situations and circumstances of the past, and certainly my trauma, don't have to influence or impact who I am right now in this circumstance, and they certainly don't have to influence or impact who I am in the future.
And I tell you this because one of the biggest challenges that I run into in coaching is helping people understand that you are a dynamic, e- ever-evolving version of yourself that is not the same today as you were yesterday, or certainly aren't the same as you were a week ago.
And if we're gonna change the outcome of our life, if we're gonna change our level of, quote-unquote, "success" or our level of fulfillment or our level of health, we're gonna have to become somebody new.
I can't be the same person I was 10 years ago and succeed in the world that is now.
The demands on men are exceeding anything it's ever been by a long shot, by a long shot.
