EPISODE 27: USAGI YOJIMBO - KAITO '84

Yeah, so Yusegi Uyubo is a samurai rabbit created by the amazing artist and writer Stan Sakai.

Kaito 84 is one of the first times somebody else has actually had a go at creating a story.

But what they've done is they've taken...

What it is, it's a...

It's not an ancestor.

I suppose it is an ancestor.

I was going to say, if you were going forwards, it can't be an ancestor, but it is, isn't it?

It's a descendant.

Descendant.

That's the word.

I couldn't think of it.

So this is a descendant of Usagi, and it's set in, as far as I'm aware, it's set in Osaka, which is a city within Japan.

hello ophelia coming in to help um but it is a it's a it's a period piece so even though it's set in the future by comparison to yusagi yoimbo which is set in like feudal japan this is set in osaka in

1984

yes a town it's a city in japan one that i really want to go and visit

okay see we've been yeah

i think if i go to japan i'm possibly going on my own but then that done that means i can take a i can take an empty suitcase and bring lots of toys back

oh my god i'll go to graceland again then

yeah go for it so yeah so there's a Some nice little hints on the Indica page, giving a bit of a hint of sort of like 1980s computer graphics stuff, so it's making it more of a period piece.

When was this actually made?

So this came out at the beginning of this year.

This is issue one.

Issue five, I think, is out now.

So it's a five-issue series.

So we could actually gather them all together when I've got them.
