If you’ve ever thought *“I can’t meditate,” “I can’t quiet my mind,”* or *“meditation just isn’t for me”* ... this episode is for you! In this episode of Mind Your Own Beeswax, I’m breaking down…
The definition of meditation is purely the act of giving your attention to one thing only.
And this can be something from a religious perspective or it can just purely be a calm and relaxing practice.
I didn't know this, but the word meditation actually stems from the Latin term, I'm going to try this, meditatum, I think, which means to ponder.
And most approaches, whether from a religious background, wherever, they all agree that practicing meditation leads to becoming more aware of how our minds work and how our thoughts are connected to our feelings and our behavior.
A meditation practice is something that will help calm your mind and body in a natural way with the aim to quiet or still your mind.
What is meditation good for? Well, it can help you to focus, to de-stress, to lift a low mood, to heal, to help you let go.
to improve your intuition and help create balance in your life.
And something that I recently learned is that meditation is the only true way of feeling permanently calm and tranquil.
The other ways of feeling calm are often things such as drugs and alcohol, and they actually only provide temporary relief.
And I thought that was interesting.
I was like, that's so true.
What can you actually do? do that makes you feel calm and peaceful like really physically makes you feel that way and without putting something into your body like drugs or alcohol or I don't know like a gummy vitamin or a cup of tea whatever it is it's the only thing you can actually do is meditate without putting something into your body you can create that calm and tranquil state so I thought that was pretty magic.
There's obviously also a lot of research around meditation, right? So there's so many benefits that have been found through research.
So this isn't my word of truth.
Ask the doctors on the internet because they say that meditation can help immediately drop anxiety and tension from your body.
So you can get immediate relief if you are feeling any form of tension or anxiety, I would even go as far as depression.
I think it really can help lift your mood so quickly.
Medical conditions such as high blood pressure, headaches, insomnia, heart palpitations even have been seen to be reduced frequently.
through meditation.
It is absolutely incredible.
In all honesty, I don't reckon there is any problem in your life or in your body, whether physical or mental, that meditation will not benefit.
If you're trying to lose weight, meditation is going to help you feel focused, feel calm and make the right choices for your body.
If you're stressed at work, meditation is going to help calm and center yourself and show up each day with more clarity.
If you have a bunch of kids and your family is stressful and chaotic, meditation is going to help you find the calm and show up as a better parent, as a better partner.
No matter what, meditation is going to add value to your life.
