Does it feel like every day there's a new health trend, supplement, workout, or expert telling you what you *should* be doing? With so much information available, it's easy to feel overwhelmed—and…
Now, I am the first to say, as a 47-year-old perimenopausal woman who has been in the healthcare space as a professional for over 25 years, who has a significant health history, has been to countless doctor's appointments and tests and surgeries, I am so thankful that we are having conversations now around women's health, that it is coming to the forefront, that people understand finally how important it is and how much we have been left behind in the medical conversation.
What it is also doing just to recognize the truth is that it is giving us a lot of information really fast.
And what that's doing is it's also causing a rise in multiple voices, many of whom I trust completely, many of whom I don't trust, that there are a lot of voices right now on social media and all over the place telling us new products to try, new programs to try, all the things we need to be doing for bone health and muscle health and brain health and resilience and stress and sleep.
I know I'm one of the voices out there and I hope to be a trusted source for you, but I absolutely know I am one of those voices.
There's so many voices out there and so many things that you can choose from when it comes to supporting your health.
So I want to talk today about what to do when you feel that overwhelm, when you just feel like there's so many choices and you don't know where to start or it starts to feel overwhelming and you don't know how to prioritize.
So what we're going to do is we're going to talk first around the mindset, like maybe some reframing that you can do to help when that starts to feel overwhelming and then really, really specific steps I want you to take to prioritize for yourself because one of the main things is that this really is an individual journey.
There are pillars of health that we all need to be participating in, but each of those pillars then will look a little bit different depending on so many factors, including your season of life.
Do you have young kids? Do you have older kids? Are you a caretaker for a partner? Are you a caretaker for your parents? What does your job situation look like? Are you traveling a lot? Are you moving? Are you dealing with an illness or a surgery yourself? You can see there's so many aspects that can change what those pillars look like and it can be hard when, again, we're getting thrown a lot of information that doesn't always have a lot of nuance when it comes to our individual situations.
So one thing I wanna say that I always, always talk about here, you will hear me say it, I am here to help empower you to make the choices that are right for you.
I am not here to tell you exactly the one by one by one step to take to get you to your specific goals, because it's gonna look a little bit differently.
I could do that individually, but I'm not gonna come on to a huge public podcast and say, "Everyone listening, follow this exact step-by-step guide," because again, we're all a little different.
But if I can help educate you and help empower you to make a decision that's right for you so that you can meet your body where it is in that moment of your life, then I feel like I am doing a service for you.
Because I want you to be able to advocate for yourself, to again, ask the right questions, to make the right choices in those moments, and then I wanna be that person that you can come back to and hopefully be that trusted voice when you're looking for the information, the encouragement, the compassion, also the science, and then the step-by-step when, again, you can make choices for yourself within those guides.
So let's talk first about the mindset that you really need to take in order to kind of siphon through all of this health information that you're getting.
Just take a breath, take a moment, take a pause, and know that we can eliminate some of the urgency, and I feel that too.
