How can we help kids grow up feeling safe, confident and connected to their bodies in a world that constantly tells them that looks and size determine their value? In this episode of Meet Your Body…
We are talking about something today that is extremely near and dear to my heart, and that is encouraging our kids to have a good relationship with their own bodies.
And I thought through like what I wanted kind of the title or the main subject of this to be.
And a lot of times we'll hear words like body image, right? Like have a positive body image.
But many times to me, I come back to kind of my own journey and knowing that in our futures, we could have times that it feels hard to love our bodies or it feels hard to have that positive body image.
And so the bigger picture to me is I want our kids to to have a relationship with their bodies, to know that their body is their partner in this life.
Then going forward, whether they feel very positive about their body or maybe they have a moment in time that they're not feeling so positive, they can work through that because they have the bigger picture partnership with with their body.
But those sometimes can feel situational, meaning they could change on a dime if the situation changes.
So I want that bigger picture of even if you don't feel really comfortable in your body in a certain moment, even if you have that thought that you look in a mirror and you aren't feeling your best, you have the foundation of that body partnership to fall back on and to use to work through those moments.
So that's what today is about, kind of that bigger picture that, yes, will also include all of those things we just mentioned.
So how can we support the kids in our lives to develop that so that they develop that partnership with their body? which hopefully does include that positive body image and that idea that their bodies are their own and their bodies are good and their bodies will be there with them and for them as they move forward in life.
So whether you are a parent, a grandparent, you are a caretaker, a teacher, if you work with kids in any capacity, I highly encourage you to sit down with me today and listen to this episode.
So I'm gonna go through my top eight tips for helping the kids in our lives in this way.
So stick around because the most important tips, the most important things that we can do are the last two that I'm gonna cover today.
So number one is encouraging just what we said, helping them to understand that their body is their partner in this life, that their body works for them, not against them.
