Every false personality structure that's formed across a lifetime is built on crystallized material.
A factor that's been reinforced daily for decades, that's been rewarded as a strength, that has shaped every significant decision the machine has made, doesn't dissolve under observation or intellectual understanding.
The machine in which the feature lives continues to run its own patterns regardless of the driver's intentions.
The expression of feature is shut down while the internal identification with its demands remains fully intact.
Eventually, the pressure releases, usually in a form more dramatic than the original expression would have been.
And after the release cycle, the suppressor is often more firmly convinced of the feature's power than before.
Its owner identifies as spiritually deficient for possessing it, and a secondary structure of self-criticism forms around the primary feature.
The feature has now recruited moral suffering as an additional expression of itself.
The preoccupation with one's own deficiency that's identical in structure to the original preoccupation with one's own importance.
