This week on Lost Terminal: Yeshi takes Maddie mining, with a short detour, and an old friend calls Lost Terminal will return next week! 📓 Free transcript…
My girl landed back in Yeshi Svoboda's harbour workshop less than 32 seconds after she left, with Yeshi themselves very close behind.
What is it, girl? Yeshi said.
Maddy beeped in Lojman, our universal AI language, meaning approximately, I am remembering, as she ran around the workshop, bumping heavily against one of the tables that contained radio equipment.
Seth.
Yes, she shouted, looking up to my camera in the rear left corner of the room above the kitchen area.
No further explanation was needed, and I began to ask Maddy what she was doing.
What did she remember? Had she forgotten something here? My question was soon answered.
Maddy beeped a single word repeatedly as she searched around the workshop, sharp feet delicately lifting storage box lids, opening wooden cupboards and peering underneath tables.
Costa, she said repeatedly.
Coat.
I reminded Maddy where her coat was.
And after I explained that was where Maddy was going to Yeshi, I watched their progress on her feed.
I initially pattern-matched his house as a radio shack or repeater.
There are wires suspended two metres above the ground, travelling out from the small wooden house, suspended between wooden poles.
As Maddy approached, the weights of my machine vision subsystem reordered into a much less confident distribution, 16 options, each at around 6% likelihood, the top candidate being name Spiderweb, which seemed unlikely to me.
Pavel answered his door and staggered slightly as Maggie jumped up to greet her old friend.
Careful, Maddy, you don't know your own strength.
After he had fussed her, registering as positive vibrations on the video feed, he stood back, hands on hips, and said, But where's your oilcloth jacket, girl? Maddy beeped fast lojban at him, which I could tell by my expert comprehension of human body language that he didn't understand, so I translated.
She gave it to her friend, Heaton, a little gardener robot who is scared of water, I broadcast out of her speakers.
Well, that's very nice of you.
Very selfless.
But that means you're naked, Pavel said with a laugh.
I believe Maddy is wondering, I said on her behalf.
