Work is underway at Elon Park with Ironwood's Park just kicking off this week as well.
Both are getting new playground equipment designed for a variety of ages, with work expected to continue through September.
They'll be bright and shiny and new, and you can keep up with updates on that following our Parks, Recreation, and Arts Department on social media.
Next, ever wonder what the inside of the Leawood Police Department looks like? Here's your chance to find out without doing anything that would normally get you a tour of a police station.
The Police Department Open House is Saturday, September 19th from 11:00 to 1:00.
Bring the kids to tour the station, the jail, see K9 and drone demonstrations, check out police vehicles, try on police gear, and enjoy free food and inflatables.
It's basically your chance to see everything our police department does, minus getting a ticket.
The end of the pool season is getting close, which is sad news for us, but potentially the best day of your dog's entire life, because it's Soggy Doggy Swim Time, Tuesday, September 8th at the Leawood Aquatic Center.
Small dogs get the pool from 4:00 to 4:45, and the big dogs take over from 5:00 to 5:45.
So grab your four-legged friend and let them close out pool season the way nature intended, by completely ignoring every rule about not running around the pool.
And finally, an important heads-up, construction blasting related to the redevelopment project in Hallbrook at State Line and College is scheduled to begin August 24th.
The blasting is expected to occur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at approximately 10:00 AM, with one blast planned on each of the blasting days.
If you live, work, or travel near the area, you may hear loud booms, and you can find more information about what to expect and FAQs at leewood.org/hallbrooknorth, all one word and double L on Hallbrook.
