So we have crosswalks marked and signed, but these are signs that go up with flashing yellow beacons.

It allows drivers of cars to better see and notice activity at the crosswalk.

So it doesn't stop a car like a red light might, however, the yellow light does bring attention, and pedestrians should still be responsible to use caution and cross when clear.
