Ryan Tierney and the guys talk about Lean Tours and the benefits (or harm) of feedback.#leanmanufacturing
Ryan TierneyGuestI feel that the community, the lean community, like sees value in like making a laundry list of improvement when they visit.
So at the end of the tour, they can be like, here are 10 things that you need to work on.
I've actually visited a place where I gave them some pretty harsh feedback on safety.
And so I just want to say it because like, I think that we're kind of drifting away from what should happen.

Yeah, about, it must be eight years ago now, Paul Akers actually visited Satan Matters and we were really looking forward to him coming because we thought he was going to come and give us all these things that we should do and should be working on.

And at the end, I was sitting ready with the notebook ready to say, right, Paul, like, what do you have to say? What should we do? And he said, you guys will figure it out.

We know we're fixing things every day and the list is longer than we can get through.

So then the last thing we need is another list because you kind of feel like, oh, I'm not I'm not good enough good enough we're not getting there we're not making progress but Paul's approach was very very different and that's what I try to do I think I done up with you this week when we went around the room it came to me and I was like Ryan like there's you're doing amazing just keep going yeah like there's maybe a few things but nothing's standing out I think it's absolutely amazing I'm blown away your people are amazing your team's amazing Your factory is amazing.
