It's been way too long since you and I have talked, and I'm excited for the L&D community to hear our discussion.
I don't know who's more excited, you or me, because I know you have a new version out, just dropped, of the L&D Detective Kit.
stuff out there before we've talked about, but this one is a shift because you are really focusing in on performance first measurement.
So I'm curious, how did you come to realize this shift to performance first measurement was needed?

And it is such an appropriate question for this particular point in my career and my journey as an L&D professional.

So over the years and have been in L&D now for about three decades and have seen a lot, learned a lot, had some successes, had some failures.

and have led me to this third version of the L&D Detective Kit and have has rather influenced my thinking about working with a performance first mindset when it comes to evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of our training, learning and talent development solutions.

So for me, Training, learning, and talent development fulfills the highest purpose when there is contribution to the workplace performance ecosystem and then ultimately contribution to achieving an organization goal.

Because when you think about it, Jess, the way in which people execute and work in their roles, the way they use their talents and their skills and capabilities is revealed through how they perform, right? So when we think about performance and we think about measurement, The essence of what I'm doing, Jess, it sounds a little simple.

But when I talk about a performance-first mindset when it comes to measurement, what I am in essence doing as the L&D detective is investigating how people's performance is influenced by training and professional development.

But not only that, how people's performance is influenced by other elements.
