She planned launch after launch for years, and not one of them went live. Then Kristle Borba gave herself 2 weeks, launched messy, and hit 100 subscribers.
I interviewed Kristle LIVE during Subscription Box Week, and I’m sharing it here because not everyone who listens gets to catch my LIVEs. She is a full time cattle rancher, she homeschools her kids, and she runs The Wholehearted Rancher and her subscription, Branded in Faith. A few moments near the end, like the bonus and deadline, were for that week and have passed.
**In this episode:**
- Why Kristle’s launches stayed on the back burner for years, even with a planner that looked perfect
- What she did in 2 weeks: mock ups, a page where people could buy, a few emails, and a quiet email list brought back to life
- The goal she set at 10 subscribers, and the 100 she wrote in the back of her planner
- How she went from 20 something subscribers on day one to 97 by the time we talked
- What she’d say to you if you’re stuck and afraid to launch
Kristle and her husband run a cattle ranch full time on a large scale. She had been inside Launch Your Box for a long time and came back every Subscription Box Week to reset. Her planner always looked amazing, but something always came up. Next week turned into next month, and the years passed.
On her 40th birthday she promised herself she would launch that year. About 2 weeks before she turned 41, it hit her that another year had gone by.
So she launched anyway. She worked on her design, mock ups, and a page where people could actually buy. She brought her quiet email list back to life and told her social media that something big was coming, which meant she couldn’t back out. Her days run 14 to 18 hours, and her take on time is simple: “if you want it bad enough, you’re going to find the time.”
She opened cart on September 19, turned her notifications off, and went to work. That evening she had 20 something subscribers, and she started crying. She had told herself she’d be happy with 10. In the back of her planner, she had written 100.
Kristle did two LIVEs of 10 to 12 minutes, on the fly, and at first only 2 or 3 people were watching. The posts are what took off. She made a map of where her orders came from, tagged someone who would love it, and gave everyone who commented a chance to win happy mail. Most of her subscribers came from her posts.
That audience came from years of sharing her ranch life without selling anything. Her shirt subscription is $25 a month, and the Plus club is $35 with a coordinating accessory.
When we talked, Kristle was at 97 subscribers. Shortly after our LIVE ended, she hit 100.
Her advice to anyone who has a plan and hasn’t launched: “even if you only get one subscriber, or even if you don’t get any subscribers, you did it and you didn’t fail.”
