Episode 572: SCAM ALERT! Before You Open that Invite, Hear THIS!

And really what they're doing is they're constantly looking for new ways to get around the skepticism that we develop, right? Like we already know we're expecting most of our email is gonna be scams, it's gonna be phishing, it's gonna be whatever, right? There's two tactics making the rounds that I'm really concerned about that I want you to make sure that you are aware of because they take advantage of something that we don't usually associate with fraud, okay? These are invitation tactics These are invitation scams and calendar appointment scams.

Y'all, first of all, the calendar appointment, stay with me because I want to tell you about that.

But first, I want to tell you about the one that got me good today.

It's called the fake invitation.

You receive what appears to be a legitimate invitation, a wedding, party, business event.

And this one, it just says you're invited.

And I'm like, hmm.

That's kind of sketch.

What am I invited to? You know, usually it'll say something in the title like, you know, so-and-so's retirement or so-and-so's wedding.

Right.

Well, whatever you get, it could be a text.

It could be an email.

It could be one of those invitations services.

Now, usually it's not really the invitation service.

It just made to look like one.

Right.

And of course, with me, I'm I'm suspicious of scams.

So, you know, the first thing I did.

As I went to look and see who it was from.

And then I did a search.

Do I know this person? And the search popped up.

Oh yeah, they were a financial coaching client from a while ago.

So...

I'm all like, yeah, let me find out.

See, the scammer is counting on us to want to know.
