Things We Learned From Jacob's Encounter - Pastor Joey Whitener

Again, as I said, if you know much about the life of Jacob up until this point in his life, he had pretty well been known for being a trickster and being very crafty.

and yet in this moment in time, God's gonna show up and God's gonna begin to do work in his life and change his name and do a complete change in his whole life and just change the whole direction of the life of Jacob and do something great in his life.

And you know, I will say this this morning as a way of introduction this morning.

You know, all of us ought to have places in our life that we can look back to over our lifetime, amen.

You and I are to have a place of salvation where you and I can look back to the day when God saved you and I.

If you don't have that place today, I'd get to searching for it, amen, because there ought to be a place in your life.

I understand I'm not gonna argue with you about you gotta remember the exact time and all that, but there ought to be some time in your life that you can look back to and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God saved you and God did a great work in your heart and life on that day.

But I'll go a little bit further than that.

There ought to be also places in your life and mine where God showed up in your life and He showed up in my life and He did a great work in your heart and mine and completely changed the direction of our life and made something out of our life.

That is a reality.

You ought to have that place today.

You say, Brother Joey, all I have is a place of salvation.

Well, you ought to start looking for a place and crying out to God.

Did God give you a place where God will touch your life and God will do a great work in your life? I mean, Jacob's life...

is going to completely change from this moment going forward.

And God said, I'm going to give you power with God and I'm going to give you power with men.

I'm going to do a great work in your life.

And it all happened in a place so much so that Jacob even gave the place a name.

And I had no doubt as Jacob went on throughout his life, I can imagine there were times when Jacob could look back to that and think, man, that was a moment in my life when God showed up and God did something in my life that completely changed my life.

You know, I think there are a lot of people today and You might get aggravated at me right here, but I think there are a lot of people today that sit in our churches.

They come Sunday morning.

They come Sunday night.

They come to midweek service, and yet the reality of it is God has never done a change in their life.

Yeah, they might be saved, and they might be on their way to heaven, but they don't know what it is to have the power of God.

They don't know what it is to have the touch of God.
