And you know what? This morning, as we listen to that statement and that story, we say that with a little bit of judgment in our hearts.
But if we were completely honest, we stand here this morning, really, No different.
I want you to wrap your mind around it.
500 million.
That is the amount of copies of God's Word that is estimated to be present in the United States.
Why is that significant? It's significant because different estimates say different things, but there's around 342 million people in America.
And yet there are more spiritually hungry and starving Americans that are surrounded by the bread of life, God's Word.
And so we have this amazing irony Of what? We are surrounded by the bread that will satisfy our soul, but yet we are starving to death.
And to sum it up, you can think about it like this.
If you go to hell today and you ask people in hell what happened, here is what happened.
Every person in hell today died spiritually starving, not because there was no bread, but because they refused the bread of life.
And they mistook a full life, a full life for new life.
Essentially, they entered into the gates of hell with a great 401k, with a beautiful family, with a case of trophies that they won at the sports that they were wonderful at.
They learned discipline.
They learned what you should do and what you should not do.
And they lived a full and wonderful life, but...
And so you and I this morning have to come to terms with that truth.
There is a difference between a full life and a new life.
And the only way to make hunger history in my life and your life is to accept the bread of life.
But in order for Jesus Christ to satisfy our souls, there are three truths that you have to come to terms with this morning.
