How to Be a Good Sheep 🐑

So if we are to learn how to be sheep, the first practice that you and I have to learn is that sheep say no. No. Sheep say no.

So Jesus starts out and he describes this word picture for us.

And in biblical times, the shepherds would be in the countryside and then they would be in a village or a community.

And oftentimes they would have a sheep fold in a village or a community.

And all of the shepherds, all the shepherds would drive their flocks into that fold for the night.

And they would stay there to be safe from predators, from wolves in the countryside.

And as they stayed there, there was a doorkeeper.

There was a gatekeeper.

There was a man in charge.

And guess who he knew? He knew who the shepherd was.

So if you were a raider, a thief, a robber, guess what you could not do? You couldn't just go in there and say, look, I need these 35 lamb chops.

They're not yours.

The gatekeeper wouldn't let them do that.

So Jesus, in this illustration, he describes the thieves and the robbers.

And what does he say? Those who do not enter by the door but climb up some other way are thieves.

and robbers.

You see, these sheepfolds, they only had one door.

That's the only way that you could enter in.

That's it.

And as he uses this story, guess what? Jesus was preaching to somebody.

And he was preaching to the people that probably worked the hardest.

The Pharisees, the scribes, the religious leaders, because you see, Jesus had just healed a blind man.

Get that in your mind.

He had healed a blind man.

That should be cause for revival, celebration, praise God.
