When was the last time you took a Sunday off? If the honest answer is never — this episode is for you. In this candid and deeply practical conversation, Tom, Cole, Ben, and Vicki get real about one…
What's up, everybody? I got a question for you.
When was the last time you took a Sunday off? Maybe any Sunday at all.
For many kid ministry leaders, especially if you're going, if you're the only staff person or you're a volunteer leader yourself, the thought of missing a weekend is detrimental, impossible.
You think, "If I'm not there, who's gonna answer questions? Who's gonna solve the problems? What if something goes wrong? Oh, what if nobody can do what I do?" The reality is many of us believe kids ministry should run 52 weeks a year, but secretly we've built ministries that only run if we show up 52, m- uh, weeks-
Mm-hmm
... a year.
Mm-hmm.
And that's just, that's impossible.
That's sus- uh, uh, not sustainable.
[laughs]
That's crazy talk.
[laughs]
Today we're gonna be talking about how to raise up volunteer leaders who can help carry the ministry, create margin for you to rest, and ultimately build a healthier ministry.
