Episode 004 - Kenya Kronicles: Amos' Journey from Despair to Destiny

Okay, my name is Amos Nalyanya Masinde.

I was born in Western Kenya in a village called Kimondo.

My family is of nine members.

I have five brothers and I have four sisters.

My parents are Benson Masinde and Jen Echolan.

I came from a background that was very low and as an Apostle Joshua's Justice talked about where he picked me from, I can be able to say that there was no hope left for me.

Had it not been Fishes of Men, I could not have had any hope in life because now I could be among the many who are suffering back in the village.

But because of Fishes of Men, that's what I became what I am today.

Back in the days in the village, we suffered a lot.

I was born in a family that did not have any source of income.

The only thing they depended on for their daily bread was to wake up, go to people's homes, ask for jobs.

And sometimes they got these jobs, but sometimes they could not get the jobs.

In any case, they could find a job for a day.

That's when we could have some food at home.

And in case they could not get food, they could not get jobs, then we could sleep on an empty stomach most of the time.

In our home, lunch was not available.

Breakfast was not there.

We only depended on supper, but not every day.

We had a house at home because the basic needs, nowadays we say, I can be able to say about a house, sleeping in a house, but during that time, In my home, the only house that we depended on was a grass-thatched house.

It had rained.

It was not well covered, especially the roofs.

And now we were rained on many times when I was a young boy.

The walls were not also well made because they used sticks and mud.

And many times the sticks could get rot and we would have a lot of ventilations on the wall.

During that time, we used to live like that.
