There was a main study done, it was called OASIS-4, and it involved 307 adults who were obese or overweight with a related health condition.

The only people they definitely excluded from the study were people with diabetes.

And everybody who was involved in the study, they received support with food, physical activity.

After 64 weeks, those people that were given the Wegavy tablet had lost an average of 13.6% of their starting weight.

And what does that mean in the real world for real numbers? If somebody began the program at 100 kilograms, well, 13.6% weight loss would be 13.6 kilograms.

You may have seen all over the place, social media, newspaper headlines that were recording 17% weight loss.

That actually was a second calculation and it estimated what could have happened if everybody, all those 307 people had actually remained on their assigned treatment and that they hadn't gone off and used a different obesity treatment.

And under those ideal conditions where everybody had done what they were there to do, then they estimated that the average, yeah, was 16.6%, so around 17%.

So if you see 14% in one headline and 17% in another, the difference is not that the newspaper or the social media article can't count.

Now, 14% includes the wider group, including people who stopped their treatment for whatever reason.

And it is certainly not a promise that you will lose a particular number of stones, kilos, pounds, or dress sizes.
