Monika is in the UK. Her daughter was diagnosed at six, and whether she left the hospital with a CGM came down to which hospital she happened to be in. She bought one herself…
So would you say that the people who were disagreeing or not being able to understand how much insulin they're supposed to do, looking confused, were they younger? Did the person who gave you comfort, were, did they just seem like they had more experience? Was there something, uh, uh, or did they just know more and you finally got to a person who understood it better?
That is a good question.
So, I don't think it is to do with age.
Uh, just thinking about the staff we had there, and also since our diagnosis, we had one hospitalization, which is a different story.
But, uh, putting these two experiences into, or, or combining these two experiences, I would say that it is not necessarily an age thing.
But also, with regards to doctors, for example, I realized that there are some doctors that just go by the book, and that is it.
There's no other alternative.
Meanwhile, in, in the, in the single hospitalization that we had afterwards, there was one doctor who just listened, and when they listen, they pay attention to what we as parents are saying, and you just have to advocate for your child, which I, at the time of diagnosis, I had no idea about.
So, so yeah.
So I think it's not an age thing.
I would say it's probably down to, to the training of the staff and the experiences of the staff more than anything else.
I'm, I'm, I'm older, Monica, so I've b- been listening to, you know, when do people retire or how much money do they feel like-
Mm-hmm
Uh, but one of the, um, one of the people whose content I was listening to said that it's been proven that y- people will like their financial advisors better if they don't talk as much, which is crazy, right? 'Cause you're going to somebody to get their, their wisdom, hopefully, right?
Yeah.
But people report being happier with that person if the person l- if that, if that advisor lets them talk even though they have no idea what they're talking about.
Yeah.
