Most men assume the lying stops once they get caught, because there is nothing left to hide. That is almost never what happens. The same instrument that built the secret sexual life keeps working long…
Here is something I had to sit with about my own story and something every man I work with eventually has to face.
The main instrument we used to deceive our partners was not a burner phone or unaccounted for cash or a deleted browser history.
It was our voice.
The voice was the tool.
We managed the conversations.
We chose the words that would keep her from looking too closely.
We answered her questions in a way that was calculated to protect the secret instead of to protect her.
And here is the part that should stop us cold in our tracks.
That same instrument did not go quiet after we were discovered.
The voice that built the secret basement is the same voice that minimizes it, that manages the disclosure, that makes her feel unreasonable for needing the truth.
The voice does not retire when the secret comes out.
It simply changes jobs.
And until we can see that, we will keep doing damage.
Dr. Manwale calls this intentionally manipulated reality.
A whole entire reality that was deliberately constructed around her so that she could not see what was true.
The key word is intentional.
We built it almost entirely with our voice.
brick by brick with words.
We put her inside a manipulated reality, and then we let her believe that the problem was her.
We're going to look at exactly how it works today, because a man cannot put down a tool that he refuses to admit that he is still using.
If you have built a secret sexual life or you're coming out of one, this episode is going to hold up a mirror that to how you've been using your voice.
Some of this will be hard to hear.
Stay in it anyway.
I know a lot of betrayed partners listen to this show.
I want you to know that what I'm about to describe is the machinery that was operated on you.
