Now, that being said, the beginning of September is going to feel a lot and is going to feel and act a lot like what we've seen much of this summer.
This is one of our drier months generally, but it is going to come in.
in a rather stormy fashion.
So we've got another one of these semi, call them quasi-stationary boundary setting up.
nearby we're going to be on the periphery of the ridge now we've gotten into a very moist air mass and we've got this stationary boundary like i said nearby and the northern stream is pushing out these areas of low pressure so tuesday and wednesday we're really going to get quite a bit of storm activity so for tomorrow gonna get intermittent showers and storms they're gonna come in two rounds so the first is gonna move in late this evening and last to about nine o'clock tomorrow morning so it might very well be raining if you're putting the kids on the school bus tomorrow Then we'll get into a little bit of a respite, a little bit of a break with more isolated showers.
But then they'll rev up again for about 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Now, the Weather Prediction Center has... much of the area in a marginal risk for excessive rainfall and the westernmost areas in a slight risk.
And the Storm Prediction Center also has much of the area in a marginal risk and the westernmost areas in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms.
looking for another round from about 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Now, we've got these high precipitable water values and these high dew points.
We've got winds aloft parallel to the boundary, so it gives us the potential for training downpours.
We're going to look for anywhere from half an inch to two inches of rainfall, but somebody might get the golden raindrop and wind up with the reed.
So, highest amounts are likely to be in the five boroughs, the lightest amounts across eastern Long Island.
Now, we also have a fair amount of instability.
And we do have some low levels here.
So we're really looking for main threat with this second round, the tomorrow afternoon round.
Looking for gusty winds, especially if the sun comes out.
We might also see some large hail.
But at front, after it slinks back to the south later tomorrow, It's coming back north again Wednesday.
So we'll have intermittent showers and storms from later in the afternoon into Thursday morning.
Now, temperatures are not going to be bad.
For Tuesday, we'll be anywhere from the mid-80s in the city to the mid-70s in eastern Suffolk.
Wednesday, less likely to get the sun out to any extent.
significant extent so we'll probably just be in the mid to upper 70s now it is worth taking a look it looks like things are really going to turn the corner as we get into the second half of the week and going into the labor day weekend looking for a nice stretch of weather to begin by friday and that's going to go, as I said, into the Labor Day weekend with temperatures in the upper 70s, so kind of what the beginning of September is supposed to be like, but we've got to make it to Friday.
We've got to make it to getaway day, if that's going to be your thing.
