Severe storms are slamming millions tonight from New York to the central plains states.

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center saying the strongest storms expected to be over the eastern Great Lakes, especially impacting parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.

It's gonna be interesting to watch because, I mean, I, I don't know what, what can be done, and it's probably-

The National Weather Service said the southern portion of the front will begin to lose momentum, allowing showers and thunderstorms to develop and move more slowly across the north central plains, gradually advancing across the upper Midwest and reaching the Great Lakes by tonight.

WPC continues to highlight a slight risk of excessive rainfall across Iowa as SPC maintains a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for the same general area today into early tomorrow.

By tomorrow, the front is expected to move southeast with showers and thunderstorms stretching from the central plains through the Midwest and into the Ohio Valley.

As the high-pressure system continues to expand southward into the eastern U.S. against the heat dome anchored over the country's midsection, a frontal boundary will remain stalled across the eastern Gulf Coast and the Florida Peninsula, according to the National Weather Service.

We should have highs in the upper 80s and winds out of the east-southeast 10 to 25.

Now, the Storm Prediction Center does have the entire valley and the lakes country in a slight risk for severe weather this evening.

Now, timing on this... will be between about 5 o'clock and 9 o'clock.

There will be storms that develop in the north-central part of the state, race east-southeastward.

Also, some more thunderstorms now developing between Carrington and Steele.

Those are all moving northeastward, so those will stay west of the valley.

We might squeeze one in here later this morning, but other than that, We're focusing on this evening where the Storm Prediction Center has our area in a slight risk for severe weather.

We could see severe storms pop between 5 o'clock and 9 o'clock this evening.

In total, the Storm Prediction Center says almost 40 tornadoes were reported in Illinois and Indiana on Sunday.

It's all part of a concerning trend of Tornado Alley creeping farther and farther north as the years have gone by.

what we see even when we correct for that better observing methods and everything better detection is a increasing trend in tornado frequency especially of tornado outbreaks in illinois that there is more and more evidence linking that with climate change whether it's tornado alley shifting east whatever what folks want to call it just the recognition that this area including the city of chicago is a very tornado prone area that is becoming increasingly so
