Shirley GallagherHostSo I'm delighted to speak about the role of secretary in the Toastmasters International Committee.
And this is not just a record keeper, but they are a cornerstone of effective club management and a leader and catalyst for leadership development.
Personally, I think this is a really good role for someone who wants to dip their toes into the committee because being a committee member can be onerous at some times in the year.
They're important, but I think it's simpler than a lot of the other ones and not so immediate.
So, and I actually, Moira, what do you think? Have you been secretary before or is this your first foray?
I was secretary last year as well as treasurer and I've deputised on occasions in the past.
And yes, I've done every role at one stage or another, but yes, secretary has been important a recurring one, if not a permanent one.
Well, it is in that there's not much to do outside of committee meetings and the results thereof.
But the secretary can always take on additional duties from other members of the committee.
And I too have been secretary for quite some time in different clubs over the years.
And again, I feel, you know, there's the end of year reporting, as you say, managing the minutes for the various different meetings.
So Toastmasters International provides numerous resources that support all of us in our roles, including those who are secretaries this year.
So the official website, in case no one knows, is toastmasters.org. And there's guidelines and templates there.
