You'll Believe Owls Can Fly

It's really a selfish thing.

They're incapable of having any thought.

It's not about what's going on in their life.

Not like they're contemplating what's going to happen in the Middle East, how oil prices are going to affect the lowest members of society.

No, no, Doug's not thinking about that at all.

He's just thinking, oh, I wonder, is my owner home yet? Am I going maniacally charged at my owner when I get home? I'll go and see now.

You would think a proper dog, and you saw if a proper pet, would be there at home when the owner arrives and not out walking.

I don't know, maybe it got held up.

Maybe it's running late.

Do dogs run late? I don't know.

Our cats run late sometimes.

Very rarely the cat will be late for its evening meal.

More likely it'll show up early because it started raining.

It'll start raining and the cat will come in going, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow.

As if to say, it's raining, please do something about the rain.

There's water falling from the sky and I don't like it.

I don't like it.

You don't need a translation dictionary to figure that out.

No, you don't need anything.

You just need to know your cats.

If it's a particularly dry, hot summer night, that's when you have a tardy cat.

But they're not doing it out of incompetence.

No, they're enjoying themselves and they want to stay out there making hay while the sun shines.

And by making hay, I mean... sinking their teeth into a bird or a rodent or trying to.

Can dogs be late? Maybe they can.
