I thought we could start by touching on some statistics because you're not imagining it.
When very thin bodies become increasingly visible and celebrated, they start to feel normal, desirable or even necessary.
And I think that that is a good place to start in terms of why you're feeling the way that you're feeling.
We called out the Butterfly Foundation in our intro, but they did some research across generations to kind of see where we are with body confidence at the moment and It's low overall and it seems to decline with age.
So according to their research, only 9% of baby boomers and 4% of pre-baby boomers reported feeling very confident about their bodies.
And something else that is probably not that surprising is that men are twice as likely as women to say they feel very confident in their bodies.
So body anxiety starts early with around two in five Australians saying they became conscious of their bodies before the age of 14.
And a further 28% saying this happened during their teenage years between 14 and 18, which I think kind of checks out in my world anyway.
And two in five women said they've received a remark about their appearance that stayed with them for life compared to one in five men.
