006-Cthulhu Dark - Goodcliffe - Shared Dreams

But let's move, let's move through the streets of Goodcliffe.

Let's catch up with Amity as he walks back to the cottage that he shares with his mother, the t- the town's baker.

Amity himself is, um, training, his sights set on being a baker himself.

Not, not like the other men in his family who both work down the mine.

Well, his father did work down the mine until the accident.

As you trudge down the road, you can see that most of the lights are off in the cottages.

Um, but there is a glint of light coming from the window of your cottage, Amity.

Ugh, Mother's still up.

Yeah.

You reach the door, open it, and indeed, there's a light in the room as you go in.

It's, it's a little bit warmerThe oil lamp flickers, casting dancing patterns of light and shadow on the walls, and, uh, your mother is sitting there at the kitchen table.

And there's a smell of, uh, of stew maybe.

Uh, and she, she looks up and says, "Ah, Amity, Amity, there you are.

I've been worried sick.

Where have you been?"

Ah, Mum, I-I'm so sorry.

I, I had to help Miss Newton after, after our, after our art class, and I just, I just lost track of time.

I'm sorry.

"I've had Mr. Pascoe round, and I, I, I told him you weren't back yet.

He d-d-he's off looking."

He, he ran into me, and he said to come home, and I was already on my way, so I'm really sorry to make you worry.

"Oh, that's, uh, oh, well, it's, it's all right.

It's, it's all right, Amity.

It's only it's... with, with, with Verity not, not here anymore, and y-your father gone, and it's, it's...

I, I worry, you know? I worry."
