What if a grower could adjust a crop nutrition program as conditions change throughout the season? In this episode of How We Grow, Chad Massura talks with Mike Hemman, CEO of Deerpoint Group, about a…
cool cool and then let's let's zoom out just for a second so i think we can ground the rest of the conversation but you know for the kind of general audience what is a fully managed crop nutrition system like what is what does that mean um and then you know ultimately like which parts of the growing process do you take responsibility for
So the way I like to talk about it is our agronomy team and either them or their agronomy team sit down together and we develop a plan.
whether that plan is to maximize yield, whether that plan is to fit within a fertilizer budget, whatever it might be.
Once we get the plan together and we approve the plan or the grower approves the plan, then it gets turned over to us to execute.
So in our plant here, We will manage the complete program and we will build out the product that needs to be delivered.
Some of that is actual process oriented where we are doing exothermic chemical reactions and building proprietary products.
The next thing that we need to do is deliver that product to the field for the grower.
So we have tank level sensors and we understand exactly when that product needs to be delivered.
So the grower now doesn't have to worry about making a phone call, calling their fertilizer company and negotiating a price.
Once it's delivered, the white box, which is the automation tool that we utilize, runs on a platform where all the agronomy plan that we put together is fed into the white box.
We know what nutrition needs to be delivered at what time based on the crops needs.
And that changes based on what's happening over the course of the season, weather conditions, patterns, et cetera.
And essentially what we are now doing is running that nutritional program in real time on an automated basis.
And then along with all this, we have a full agronomy team that in season does regular soil, tissue and water sampling.
