Real estate consumers appear to believe that the current disruption afflicting property markets is exceptional, but really it's nothing of the sort.

As far as government generated inconveniences are concerned, this one is relatively ho-hum.

Now I owned real estate in the 1980s when the federal government pushed mortgage rates to 17%.

The GFC in 2008 was seen as Armageddon for real estate and forecasts of 40% declines in property values gained serious media traction at the time.

Then the COVID lockdowns in 2020 shut down real estate activity and the major banks were tipping price decreases as high as 33%.

So I'm finding the current media frenzy over the Albanese government shafting of property investors a tad tedious.

The forecast of values nosediving, plummeting and collapsing are boringly predictable.

And I'd be disappointed if supposedly savvy investors allowed themselves to be intimidated by all that white noise.
