[dramatic music] For years, old John Pierce had built up his bank in Clover Springs through honest dealings and a faith in his fellow man.

He prospered and had two sons to take over his duties if need be.

While riding his favorite horse in the mountains, accompanied by his younger son Scotty, an accident occurred and the father was killed, while the son was brought home an invalid.

The doctor said his back was broken.

The younger son, Jim, then came home from the city to take over and care for the bedridden Scotty.
