Today, I share the best books for teens to read in the summer! Goodreads: Ellie Mano Instagram: @hookofabook Email: hookofabookpodcast@gmail.com
Speaking of the books themselves, I want to talk about my first recommendation for the summer, which is Meet Me Under the Lights by Cassie Miller.
I reviewed this book a couple months ago because I got an advance review copy from Penguin Teen, which I really appreciated.
This is a young adult summer romance book set in a small town, and I really liked that because I grew up in Dallas, which is a pretty big city, but I've always loved the concept of growing up in a small town.
Like, my grandparents are from a small town and whenever we go to visit we run into everybody everywhere because everybody just knows each other and I think that's really cool.
Meet Me Under the Lights follows a girl named Eliza whose father is pretty rich, she's kind of got this reputation as the rich girl in town, and she's really focused on becoming a Broadway lighting designer.
Reed plays for a different baseball team that has this huge feud with Eliza's family's baseball team.
Reed and Eliza get really close really fast, and they have to spend their summer sneaking around because anybody that sees them could cause a scandal within the town.
This is a short but sweet book that I think a lot of teenagers would really like to read this summer.
I've never liked sports, I've never been that interested in reading about sports, but I did like learning a little bit about baseball through this book.
I also liked learning about Eliza's interest in becoming a Broadway lighting designer, because I think I mentioned this when I reviewed the book, but I do a lot of theater but never from the technical perspective, so it was interesting to see what work she did.
I'd recommend it for ages 13 and up, and it's a book that I would definitely reread.
