But on this, um, Vision Sunday, in case you didn't realize this wa-- [laughs] we're gonna focus, and you might have guessed already, on the word and the attitude of faithfulness.
God made childless Abraham and Sarah a promise that he would become the father of a great nation, and that through him, this is important, all nations would be blessed.
Genesis 21:1, "The Lord was gracious to Sarah and he said, a- a- as he'd said, 'And the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised.'" It's a baby.
This father of faith was being faithful, and it's blessed people that he would never meet.
We, the Church of Holy Trinity Claygate, are rooted in the faith in the same faithful God.
We, however, are part of something that stretches backwards and forwards throughout all generations.
We've received this fai- faith, a place to worship that's been passed on from those who've gone before us, and have a responsibility to hand it on, the people in good condition and the buildings in good condition for the mission of God.
We want to be a church that blesses both the generations who journey with us now, wouldn't that be cool? But even more, the ones that come after us.
How big is your vision? We're proud to be a church of all ages that always seeks to proactively invest and pass on our faith to the next rising generation.
We struggle with this, we sometimes fail at this, but with God's help and grace, we're doing our best, and we'd like to get better.
A church where older people, mid-life people, sort of stretching the boundary, I think I'm [laughs] young adults, youth, children, babies, and families belong together, learn from and serve each other.
A church who, if faithful today, will bear fruit for generations to come in people we might never, ever see.
