"Severed" | S1 E38– A Wizard’s Folly | Heroic Round TTRPG Podcast

[dramatic music] Boulders rain to the earth.

The trees snap and scream.

The falling rocks make sounds of deep impact.

Birds cry and fly in all directions, and then silence.

And then a treasure chest lands on the shore of Damon's Retreat and explodes open like a pinata.

I don't know how we know what pinatas are in this world, but just roll with it.

[laughs]

Mack, you can breathe again and you come back to the surface, a mighty mouse sputtering for air.

[coughing]

Um, now that I can breathe, I'll, I will tr- leave my wild shape to return back to Mack form.

Okay.

You, uh, emerge from the pond onto the rock pathway that leads to Damon's Retreat, dripping wet, shivering slightly.

And you can see Gentle there by the collapsed door catching his breath, bleeding from his head.

Something must have hit him.

So you know a head wound, it just gushes.

And his robes are torn at the sleeve where he had had his arm through to try to help.

You notice that Stripes, the manticore kitten, is circling in the air wildly and screeching with anxiety, kind of flying around and around, flapping and flying around.

Socks, the other kitten, is nowhere to be seen at the moment.

What do you do?

So I, I think right now Mack is really struggling, uh, like emotionally because I've been through a cave-in before that I caused and I feel like I caused this one, right?

Yeah.

And so now I've lost Flavius and, and possibly LS.

[clears throat] So grippling, grappling with these feelings of like, "Do I flee or do I go help?" Right? And so I'm gonna stagger forward, hands and knees like dripping wet, shaking, try and make my way to Gentle to see if I can help.

Great.

All right, you come walking over to Gentle.
