In the same way that if you constantly criticize yourself, they'll also constantly be criticizing themselves.
But if you instead just focus on, "How can I be generally positive? Like, how can I genuinely try and help them achieve their goals by teaching them what to do and rather than what not to do?" 90% of your problems are solved.
