Like what he purposes for our lives and his longing, he wants our longing to align with his longing for us.

Now, that works its way out in various things like what we do and calling and all of that.

But actually, there's something far greater that God desires for us.

And it's not about something, doing something for him.

Because we can do lots of things for him and it's all good.

Actually, I think we've got a lot of liberty in that.

That we can do lots of things for God.

He wants something way beyond us doing something for him.

He longs for us to desire him.

as the core driving factor of our lives, that if anybody were to ask you, what is it you do? What is your desire? You could say, actually, my greatest desire is to glorify God and please Him and live with Him and enjoy Him forever.

That's my desire.

Is it always my desire? I cannot stand here and say it's always my desire.

Because life gets in the way, doesn't it? Actually, ministry gets in the way.

Focus gets in the way.

But do I long for it always to be my desire? Oh, you bet you.

But that's true for you too, isn't it? Please don't leave me hanging up here, or else this is going to be really, really awkward.

Like the longing that God, his desire for us is that we might long for him, and yet so often our lives can be so distracted.

But David, this king, known as one of the greatest kings, he was brutal in his lifetime.

In terms of some of his actions and his actions, he was immoral.

He made some really unwise choices.

And he lived this life.

And we get this psalm.

And sometimes it just blows my mind to think, I know what David's like.

I've read the stories.

And so have you.
