So, I know Pastor Trent already read these verses for us, but go ahead and take a look at Matthew chapter 7, verses 24 to 27.

But then verse 26, everyone who hearing these words of mine and not doing them, if you hear Jesus but don't obey, if you don't heed His words, you may be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand, and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the wind blew and slammed against that house." and it fell and great was its fall now in these verses we're going to look at three details that jesus emphasizes here he's going to make some comparisons He's going to draw our attention to two houses and then to two builders and then to two foundations.

And the ending of sermons is very important because it's the conclusion, it's the climactic culmination, it's where everything in the sermon has been pointing to, and Jesus preaching the most famous sermon that He ever preached, and He's the greatest preacher who ever preached, this is His concluding illustration.

So there's something important for us to learn here from this story, the tale of two houses.

So let's dig into this just a little bit, and let's begin by considering that first comparison, a comparison between these two houses.

And then verse 26, there was a second man, a foolish man, and he also built a house.

Now, I want to ask you this morning, kids, if you could build a house, if you could make your house whatever you wanted it to be, how would you design your house? Let's say that maybe you could start by designing it in Minecraft and you're going to turn it into this massive structure and it's going to have waterfalls and lava flows and trap doors and treasure chests.

I remember when I was growing up, you guys, it's amazing how many different kinds of Legos there are.

So I think if I had been asked to design my dream house, it probably would have been a castle.

Now, I'm a little older, and I've come to realize that castles are very dark, very damp.
