Eddie's Nick Blakey Mail, Marnus' Important Summer & Bathurst Preview

One of the big stories is Nick Blakey out of the-

Yes

...

Sydney Swans, uh, the so-called Pullman Five, one of the alleged people involved in that situation.

One of the players who was, uh, rubbed out by the Sydney Swans, missed the final series.

He's, uh, was ...

He cut up rough, there's no doubt about that.

Uh, his father, John Blakey, a 300-game superstar of the North Melbourne Football Club, and Fitzroy before that, back in the old days, but also has been a, a huge, uh, part of the Sydney Swans and, uh, it looks now certain that he will go.

Uh, he was very unhappy with the way things unfolded at the Sydney Swans.

I'm not quite sure how else they could have unfolded, but-

Mm

... he's allowed to have whatever feeling he has.

And, uh, the old team, North Melbourne, who missed him as a father-son back in the day, have thrown everything, including the kitchen sink, at him.

So a massive $12 million offer.

It looks like now we're down to the, uh, you know, the end of, uh, the trade period to get this deal done.

St. Kilda are in there.

Uh, Geelong were sniffing around.

Everyone was in for this bloke.

He can really play, Nick Blakey, and, uh, it looks like he is gone, and that is yet another added extra to this story that came out of the, the dramas of the Pullman Five.

Mm.

And it's such a dramatic time of year, the trade period as well.

Some of these trades come down to the last minute-

Yeah

... where they could possibly get done, and this is where the families move interstate and huge money on the line.

And you mentioned there the figures for Nick Blakey.
