02 XIII Death

The sun is in Libra, constellation of the scales.

While originally part of the Scorpio constellation, specifically Libra was a clause, those pinching clause became the scales that measure and weigh.

They were weighing everyone who was passing through the gates that the Scorpion was guarding in this underworld journey.

These scales are concerned with balance.

Of course, they're scales.

That's what they do.

They balance things out.

We can think of the balance of light during this time of the year.

We can compare it to balancing order where you have clarity, there's structure and you can see things.

And then chaos.

We tend to think of chaos as a negative thing.

And fair enough, it's definitely not an orderly thing.

But from chaos comes a lot of creativity.

So if you're thinking about chaos as being a metaphor for the dark part of the year, what's happening in this dark part of the year is that there's this frenetic kind of energy that we don't know how to put structure to it.

This is the part of the year where the whole cosmological dance shifts us into an invitation to step into that kind of energy where it's chaotic because we haven't given it clarity or order and we are maybe, we're unable to see the order that exists.

We can think of Libra as a balance between opposites and Libra achieves this balance through relationships.

Libra is a cardinal sign marking the gateway into fall.

With all cardinal signs, there is an understanding that will is present.

It's captured in this idea of assessing.

There is an agentic person assessing what is of value, what needs to be shed, what should be retained.

The Sun in Libra asks what are you needing to assess right now? What is out of balance? How is it interconnected with your relational entanglements? and what needs to happen to bring it back into balance.
