251 - You've Read the Changes… But Have You Implemented Them?

So there's changes to the EYFS statutory framework.

There's changes to the Ofsted Early Years Inspection Toolkit.

We've got safeguarding guidance changing around us.

And if you've looked at all of this and thought, which is what I did, where do I start? Then you're not alone.

But the key message I want to give to you today is reading the changes is not just enough.

Your implementation, which is what this is all about, is what matters because it's one thing to download the new framework, the new toolkit, but there's another thing entirely to know what's changed, what it means for your setting, what it means for practitioners need to know and what this actually does look like in your everyday practice.

So that's what we're going to focus on today.

I'm not going to read and digress to you government guidance.

I'm going to translate it.

I'm going to say what's changed, what might you need to review, but most importantly, what this should look like in your practice.

So before I start, I do want to signpost two other important documents to you, which I'm not going to really go into, but they are really important.

So the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 is particularly relevant for schools and colleges.

But there is an early years bit in there and working together to safeguard children is also another important safeguarding guidance that came out in March.

So I'm not going to cover those documents in this episode, but please, please, please make sure that you're familiar with the guidance that particularly applies to your role or your setting.
