Kyle Goon from The Baltimore Banner drops in

Well, let's get to it.

Listen.

I don't want to talk about prospects right now.

I did the podcast through the rebuild, and I'm like, I'm so tired of talking about, dude, Mike Elias, how do you deal with these prospects? So I'm going to push that aside for a moment, and I'm just going to start with the big question here.

Is this a failed rebuild, Kyle? Did he fail

us? Failed rebuild, even for me, and I've criticized Mike.

I sort of said even before this deadline, if they're sellers, he should lose his job.

But I think failed rebuild is probably a misnomer for what's happened on Monday.

I mean... know the orioles where i agree with mike is the orioles still have a lot of talent um you know and i think that's a

loaded question by the way no no no

it's okay i mean it's what people are wondering and and i think a lot of the national talk has been oh it's a failure of a rebuild I don't think that's true because you're not starting from ground zero, right? You're starting from a higher floor.

And the problem is the talent that you have is not playing like the talent you thought they were.

So Gunnar's not playing the way he has in past seasons.

Colton Couser hasn't really built on his rookie of the year season.

Guys are just not... being the studs that you thought they would be Jackson holiday.

I mean, I, he, I think he's been set back by his injury more than we can appreciate, but he's not playing like a number one pick right now.

And that's what the problem is where you sort of, you're in this assessment phase and Adley was kind of part of that, you know, for especially the previous year and a half before this season, not playing like a number one overall pick.

And yeah, That's the problem of this rebuild.

You had the top-ranked farm system in baseball, but the top-ranked farm system doesn't guarantee you the top-ranked team in baseball.

And for one year, they were the top-ranked team in the entire AL.

And Mike Elias confessed, basically, the other day, yeah, I got caught up in the narrative of the rebuild.

And I think...

Everyone kind of felt like, OK, this is the start of something.

These guys are about to take this league by storm.

You know, even when they got swept by Texas, I think the feeling was, hey, they're going to be right back in it next year.
